How one woman’s journey of adoption, healing, and self-discovery sparked a movement for change.
Every movement begins with a story — and for Enough, that story starts with Mia Dickerson.
Mia’s journey as an adoptee was filled with both love and challenges. At 19, she received her adoption paperwork, and it set her on a lifelong path of seeking understanding, connection, and healing. But the road wasn’t easy. Finding adoption-competent therapists was difficult. Medical questions went unanswered. And even well-meaning professionals often couldn’t see beyond the surface of her experience.
“I remember opening up to therapists who told me, ‘Well, it sounds like you had a good life.’ But it wasn’t about good or bad — it was about identity, grief, and belonging.
It was through this lived experience that Enough was born — a space where adoptees can be seen, heard, and supported in every aspect of their lives.
Mia’s mother, Margie Hampton, played an instrumental role in shaping her journey. Through compassion and intentional communication, she helped Mia understand her story from an early age, showing that transparency and love can coexist in adoption. Their connection reflects the very heart of Enough: that every adoptee’s story deserves to be told — fully, truthfully, and without shame.
Mia’s vision for Enough is deeply personal but powerfully universal — to make sure no adoptee ever has to navigate their story alone.
